Poetesses bring the house down at La Gondola

Poetesses Kudsy Valor and The Real African Trademark left fans wailing for more yesterday at the LaGondola Poetry and Comedy Session, a weekly event that aims at affording artists a platform to showcase their creative works to the public. The Pub has also won the hearts of many creatives in the city since its introduction of local Friday whereby only local music is played throughout the whole night.

The Question of the day was' Who are these two Ladies. Well, *Kudsy Valor* born Mukudzei Mazorodze is a young lady residing hear in Bulawayo, doing her Honours Degree in Women Affairs and Social Work. Her fame rose when she first performed her piece 'Nigel' a love poem that has won the hearts of many, The piece requires a male figure, usually picked from the audience to pose as the 'Nigel' of the day.You can read more about Miss Valor at www.soulfulmiss.com.

Then there Was *The Real African Trademark* , born Sithandazile Khumalo, also a University Student. Trademark is a renowned poetess from the city. She brought the house down yesterday as she protested against stereo type remarks that comes with being a Khumalo. She is also a Deep House Dj and Fashionista. With also being a plus size model, Trademark's confidence on stage is overwhelming, she makes the stage her play ground.Read more about Trademark on www.Facebook.com/Therealafricantrademark

Bulawayo needs to see such talent, thus I urge promoters and festival organisers to involve such performers in their events.

The night was filled with joy and laughter as the Umahlekisa Comedy Club blew the house down with Comedy. Other acts included poet Ras Munroe , Jazz Artist Nyasha Bothwell and others.

*Choral music has for a longtime been associated with churches and school competitions, but this has gradually changed over the years as we have witnessed independent choirs emerging and taking over the hearts of many. A phenomenal choral group has emerged from the City of Kings, this is no ordinary choir. LightWave Choral Choir  is more of a talent hub than a choral group. This is witnessed by the diverse talent within. It is in LightWave that one finds voices that are out of this world, talk about music to your ears, song arrangements, the relationship between members, one will not be far from correct when they say LightWave is home to a family of creatives.*

*Founded by a young renowned starsinger, Miss Khaliphile Sibanda in June this year, You might remember Miss Sibanda as Khally S of the Khally S Productions, she is also the writer of the play 'it's not gold', a stage play produced by Theatre for Everyone, Acted on Joseph and his amazing Court. She also participated at the just ended musical The Tellers as an actor. LightWave strives to nurture other talents besides singing, these include drama, film, poetry and writing. Home to actor and director Bruce Masukuma , Khumbulani Mthimkhulu, singer Tanaka, Industry expect Vusi Afrika, Lightwave is clearly the next industry shaker to look out for.*

*The choir will on the 27th of December host its official launch at Amphi Theatre from 3pm to 5pm.Aiming at introducing its activities to the world, Lightwave shall on this day showcase its new music, classic dances and two of its stage plays ' I am my parents '  an awareness campaign drama for the just ended 16 days of activism against Gender based violence and 'How I got it', also an awareness campaign drama for World AIDS day.*

*Other acts to support the launch will be performances from Poets With A Difference (POWAD),an initiative that uses the spoken word to make a difference in society.* *LightWave understands that its members do have their own solo music careers, hence there is also a program that focuses on that, on this day members shall also have the opportunity to showcase their solo projects on stage.*

*With 75 members to date, LightWave's membership is still open, young people are advised to come and learn how to sing, act, dance and write. School leavers are also advised to take this opportunity to utilize the programs designed to keep them off the streets and help them use their talents to earn a living.*

*Training workshops, peer education, career guidance, cultural exchange programs are some of the activities of Lightwave Choral choir.*

*When interviewing one of the choir members Tsitsi Nyoni a warning was given to other choirs to up their game because LightWave is vowing to win the National Choir festival Contest 2017.*

*We appeal to individuals, parents, the corporate world,NGOs,the media and sponsors to support the activities of LightWave Choral Choir*

LightWave Quartet

Launched successfully on the 27th of December 2016, LightWave Choral Choir has been promising the nation music that is out of this world. I am proud to announce that finally the public shall see what menu has these musicians been preparing for the city of kings.

Choral music does have a following in the City, this is witnessed by the sold out shows of similar choirs including, Harare based Zimpraise, Vocal X, Creme Voices amongst others.

One would be far from correct when they argue that Choral music has a low audience, imagine the whole Christian community, yes that takes the largest piece of the pie when we identifying our market.

This would be their first show this year,a Quartet. This is an act led by four individuals. The voices shall tell a story that we only see on TV and on the internet. Young Africans with angelic voices have for a long time been looking for that platform to come out to the world and say hear me sing, thus LightWave Choral Choir and Actors have afforded musicians with a platform to just do that.

StarSinger Khally S of Khally S Productions and founder member of LightWave Choral Choir recently met with Honourable Minister Dokora (Primary and Secondary Education) on how best they can support the new curriculum.

The Quartet have seen Alliance Francaise and Gitis Arts coming on board to Produce this prestigious event. Vusi Afrika Foundation does all in-house marketing and publicity for LightWave and Khally S Productions.

Other Acts to brace the occasion are  Starsinger Khally S, Seasoned Worshippers, Anointed Voices and Bulawayo's finest Kadder KwaitoStar.

Make a date with LightWave Choral Choir on Friday 24 February at Hope Center, 5-7pm CAT. $1 for Kids and $2 for Adults.
